In 2004, the Dubai International Film Festival launched with its theme of ‘Bridging Cultures

Meeting Minds. ‘Going into its fourth year, DIFF is held under the Honorary Chairmanship of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. DIFF is a not-for-profit cultural event, presented and organized by the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority. Reflecting Dubai’s cosmopolitan and multicultural character, the festival showcases a wide selection of features, shorts and documentaries from around the world.

DIFF aims at establishing itself as a major international festival, while continuing to act as a platform for showcasing excellence in Arab Cinema and simultaneously contributing to the development and growth of the regional industry and talent. As one of the world’s fastest growing business and tourist destinations, Dubai provides an ideal meeting point for industry friends and colleagues from around the globe.

DIFF creates an exciting atmosphere for exchanging ideas among a group of progressive film industry professionals. Moreover, the networking initiatives hosted by DIFF provide participants and guests a favorable setting for conducting business. Since its first edition in 2004, DIFF has established itself as an important cultural event in Dubai and the UAE. There has been a remarkable growth in the number of films presented and an increased interest in audience numbers. The festival has also seen a similar growth in the attendance of key international and regional filmmakers, industry professionals and members of the local, regional and international press.

A publishing deal has also been announced between The Hollywood Reporter, the prestigious International film trade news source, and Gulf News, to produce the DIFF Daily, the official publication of the Dubai International Film Festival.

LOCATION 1: MADINAT, JUMEIRAH - RED CARPET

Mall of the Emirates is home to over 450 retailers and also features a complete range of entertainment options including Ski Dubai, the first indoor ski destination in the Middle East, a two-level Magic Planet, the largest indoor family entertainment centre in the country, a 14-screen Cinestar Cinemas and the Dubai Community Arts and Theatre with a 500 seat-theatre and art gallery.
