AMSTERDAM - ARENA BOULEVARD
Video
The Eye
Candy screen is located at the center of Amsterdam
Arena Boulevard.
Since Ajax moved in and the Amsterdam ArenA was opened
in August 1996, the development of the central area
of Amsterdam Southeast has gone into full swing. This
is the site of one of the most prominent central locations
in the Netherlands: the ArenA Boulevard. A new piece
of the city with an impressive skyline is arising around
the Amsterdam ArenA. The Pathé ArenA cinema multiplex,
the Heineken Music Hall, the Media Markt, Decathlon,
Perry Sport and Prenatal megastores, the Villa ArenA
home improvement centre, cafés and restaurants
are all open to the general public. One of the largest
banks ABN Amro have their head offices here and there
are 30,000 people working in the area every day. During
the evening the area is filled with concert and theatre
goers and every other weekend during the football season,
Ajax play their home games.
Heineken Music Hall
Major performers from both the Netherlands and abroad have already played many concerts in the Heineken Music Hall. The main hall of the Heineken Music Hall, known as the Black Box, was specially designed for concerts. It has a large foyer, where one can enjoy a snack and a drink before the show begins. Furthermore, many concerts are followed by an after-party with a DJ
Pepsi Stage
In the summer of 2002, the Pepsi Stage - as the former
Grace Theatre is currently known - was taken over by
the organisation that also operates the Heineken Music
Hall. The Heineken Music Hall's motive for taking over
the former Grace Theatre was to expand its existing
capacity and market segment. The Pepsi Stage is suitable
for smaller concerts and events for up to 2,000 spectators,
while the Heineken Music Hall has a capacity of 5,500.
Combining the two naturally yields an extensive capacity
expansion, but also provides a greater variation of
experiences for its visitors. These two locations on
the ArenA Boulevard can also be interlinked by means
of walkways.
The combination of the Pepsi Stage and the Heineken
Music Hall has already organised a range of successful
productions. Major factors influencing the organisation's
choice of location were good accessibility, its proximity
to Bijlmer railway & metro station, extensive parking
capacity and excellent accessibility from both Amsterdam
city centre and the rest of the Netherlands.
