EYE CANDY QUALIFIES FOR WORLD CUP 2006

In Berlin the 2006 World Cup will be opened with a huge party at the Brandenburg Gate. Celebrations, events and parties will continue throughout the entire World Cup. The Fan Fest for the World Cup will take place on "Straße des 17. Juni", a boulevard located between the Brandenburg Gate and the Sieggesaeule.

During the World Cup, Berlin will present itself as a friendly, athletic, creative and international metropolis, as the capital of Germany, the host of the World Cup 2006. The fans of the participating countries and of the whole World Cup will be warmly welcomed to Berlin and shall experience unforgettable moments at the Fan Fest.

The Fan Fest Berlin will have the largest public viewing area in Germany and will be the centre of attraction for hundreds and thousands of fans, tourists and Berliners in the capital for the World Cup 2006. The project is unique in the World Cup history and in its dimension is without precedent in the history of Berlin.

The centre component is the live coverage of ALL World Cup 2006 matches on giant screens throughout the entire event from June 09 to July 09 2006.

Next to the live coverage of all matches, the Fan Fest Berlin site will offer an international stage programme, selected attractions and high-quality gastronomy for all visitors. 

The Fan Fest Berlin will be a crowd puller for all target groups!  Different modules will be arranged to make a unique world of experiences, characterised by football and a lot of hospitality.

Across the mile, six large screens set up on “video-support-constructions“, which have been specifically designed for this event, can be found. The “video-support-constructions“ will be installed at central points, so that an exceptionally large amount of people can optimally follow the matches, but the feeling of social community and being close to the event will be sustained.

Thereby the entire visual impression of the mile has been considered, bearing in mind the different visitor frequencies.

In close proximity to the screens, DJ platforms will be set up, which will enable editorial features and entertainment of the Public-Viewing-Points with the most different contents. DJ and video towers will not just support the football coverage, but have a party role in the late evening, when they become the centre of entertainment.

  • The large entrance portals convey the impression of unity.
  • Participation areas and football facilities will be offered.
  • Stages for various artistic performances can also be found in the Experience Areas.
  • Different shopping possibilities will round off the area, offering countless shopping opportunities to the visitors, even out of the official shop opening times.
