The Gothia Cup is the 'World Cup Soccer tournament for youth' and has been growing steadily since it's inception in 1975. The number of participating teams has been continuously reaching higher numbers.
Now, some 1,226 teams from 64 countries take part, making it a bigger event, in that sense than the FIFA World cup itself. Furthermore, It offers the chance to see some of the world's best up and coming footballers in action and gives every country a chance to show its upcoming international talent to a global audience.
The Gothia Cup enters the new century as the world's foremost youth football tournament - The international matches against teams from the far corners of the earth make it one of the most exciting periods of the Swedish calendar.
Dedicated to placing its clients in the center of the action, Eye Candy will be placing 2 gigantic 40 square meter Eye Candy screens at 2 ideal locations for the event and the city. These screens will be strategically located at the Gothia Heden Centre and the Ullevi Stadium.
The Gothia Heden Centre is a 700 square metre meeting and coordination center for all soccer players and team managers in the heart of Gothenburg. This area is frequented by soccer fans from all over Sweden.
The Ullevi Stadium was built for the World Championships in soccer in1958 and was also used as a venue for the World Championships in athletics in 1995.
Gothenburg is Sweden's second city and is at its most beautiful during the Gothia Cup month of July. This month is also a time with a huge range of cultural, sporting, shopping and other excursions.
