Gumball 2007 Route
28th April 2007:
Launch party at the Trocadero, London.
The street in front is closed, red carpet, supercars on display etc.
29th April 2007:
At 12 midday all cars are in position on Pall Mall for car display.
At 4pm the rally starts! Big Gantry on Pall Mall, similar position as last year but much bigger and better! Onto France via Eurotunnel, Belgium, and then Amsterdam! The cars park up at the ‘Waterlooplein’ in the centre of Amsterdam, and as you may already know it is going to be Queens Day, so a lot of people are going to be partying on the streets! Amsterdam is a checkpoint, so the teams park up, pick up their next route card, drink and get back on their way. The location is similar to Leicester square, so there also going to be a lot of regular people as well.
30th April 2007:
From Amsterdam to Frankfurt and from Frankfurt to Istanbul (obviously no sleep yet!).
The teams drive to a secret airport in Frankfurt where a select few of the Gumball crew will drive all of the cars onto the two Antanov airplanes. That will be a very tight fit! After about a four hour flight to Istanbul, they land on the Asian side and they unload. Then the cars will be escorted through the city of Istanbul, through the most famous street in the city, namely Bagdat Street. The teams will finally arrive at Kempinski Ciragan Palace where they will stay for the night.
An amazing James Bond Party will follow probably at the Reina Club!
1st May 2007:
From Istanbul to Thessaloniki and from Thessaloniki to Athens.
After leaving Istanbul and picking up their next route card the teams head to Thessaloniki where they will have a checkpoint. From Thessaloniki the final leg of the day will bring them to Athens where drivers will stay at the Hilton Hotel. The Gumball cars will be on display at the Zappeio area, which is a unique location and a short journey from the hotel. At that night, a White Party will take place on the Top Floor of the Hilton Hotel.
2nd May 2007:
From Athens to Tirana.
The Gumballers leave Athens first thing in the morning for Tirana in Albania!
3rd May 2007:
From Tirana to Dubrovnik and from Dubrovnik to Bratislava. This will be another exhausting day. Travelling through 7 countries: Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria and Slovakia! The teams are going to leave Tirana as always first thing in the morning and drive to Dubrovnik. Dubrovnik will be the lunch checkpoint for the day. So the drivers can have a bite to eat, inspect their new route cards and head on to Bratislava! In Bratislava the Gumballers are staying at the Raddisson SAS Hotel and for the fans there will be a display of the cars at Hviezdoslavovo Square.
4th May 2007:
From Bratislava to Prague and from Prague to Berlin.
The Gumballers will leave Bratislava for a checkpoint in Prague. From Prague the drivers can enjoy the German autobahn on their way to the final checkpoint of the day in Berlin. In Berlin the Gumball 3000 pack will stay at the Regent Hotel. Berlin makes a good place for a party especially on a Friday night!.
5th May 2007:
From Berlin to London.
From Berlin the cars head for home! The final day’s journey takes them through Holland, Belgium, France and back to Great Britain. Crossing the channel through Eurotunnel, they will be back in London to finish at the Parliament Square and they will be ready to celebrate the final party!

In January 2005, a survey of London's ethnic and religious diversity claimed that there were more than 300 languages spoken and more than 50 non-indigenous communities with a population of more than 10,000 in London.

ISTANBUL (TURKEY)
LOCATION: BAGDAT STREET |

Istanbul (historically known as Constantinople) is an old city of wonders, far exceeding what words can tell.
It is Turkey’s most populous city, an international junction of land and sea trade routes and the country’s cultural and financial centre. Due to its unique location, it is the only metropolis in the world which is situated on two continents, i.e. the western portion of it is in Europe, while the eastern portion is in Asia. Istanbul is becoming increasingly colourful in terms of its rich social, cultural and commercial activities. You can see the remains of many ancient civilizations and their harmony with Turkish culture.
The old versus the new, the traditional versus the modern is a conflict a visitor often observes. The city is full of contrasts and gaudy views, therefore walking in this city is like walking in time. The diverse ethnicity of the city is another point which is worth examining. The minorities sum up to a majority and build up an enormous population. Istanbul is famous for its vivid life day and night.
There are many restaurants, clubs, bars and taverns with live music to visit, while other activities include shopping at Grand Bazaar (Kapali Carsi) or the Egyptian Bazaar (Misir Carsisi) and swimming at Bosphorus.
Our screen is going to be placed at the busiest area, namely Bagdat street, which is similar to Oxford street. TOP
THESSALONIKI (GREECE)
LOCATION: MACEDONIA PALACE HOTEL |

 |
Thessaloniki, Greece’s second largest city, is well known for being vibrant, busy and uniquely beautiful.
It is located on the north part of the mainland by the beach just half an hour away from Chalkidiki, where the country’s most prominent and popular resorts lie. Geographically speaking, it is the connecting point of Asia (Turkey), the Balkan region and Europe. Due to its strategic location, it is the major transportation hub of south-eastern Europe and a significant economic, industrial, commercial and cultural meeting point. Historically, it is the birth city of Alexander the Great and the capital city of Macedonia. Due to its key commercial importance, a spacious harbour was built during the Roman era, while the economic expansion of the city continued during the Byzantine era. Thessaloniki is also one of the most important university centres of the South-eastern Europe and thus it holds a large student population. The night life of the city is vibrant with lots of bars, clubs and ‘tavernas’ restaurants lying alongside the beachside.
Our screen will be placed at the centre of the city, just a breath away from the city’s landmark, the White Tower, in front of Macedonia Palace Hotel. TOP

The classical era heritage is still evident, portrayed through a number of ancient monuments and artworks, the most famous of all being the Parthenon on the Acropolis.
Today Athens is a multinational and busting city with a metro population of 4 million people. Athens is not only the centre of economic, financial, industrial, cultural and political life of Greece but a fast growing leading business centre within the European Union.
Athens enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate and due to its proximity with a number of Greek islands, it is a popular destination for travellers. Home to a vast number of 5 and 4 star hotels, the city is currently the 6th most visited capital in Europe. The infrastructure and social amenities of Athens are listed on the top among the other European cities, in part due to the city’s success in staging the 2004 Olympic Games. Our screen will be placed at the heart of the city at the Zappeion area, very close to Syntagma Square.
