Eye Candy Takes Its Global Outdoor Giant Screen Media Concept To The Stockholm International Film Festival

EVENT SUMMARY

The Stockholm International Film Festival started in 1990 and is today the leading competitive film festival in northern Europe. In 2003 the festival scored an all-time-high with 85.000 visitors, 500 accredited media- and business representatives and over 80 international directors, actors and producers. 160 films were presented from 40 countries. The festival operates all year round with monthly screenings of selected films and mini-festivals. In 2004 Stockholm Intl. Junior Film Festival was arranged for the fifth time. The Stockholm International Film Festival is the head of Film Stockholm, a regional resource center for film production and a co-funder for short and documentary film.

Oliver Stone will be this year’s guest of honour at the Stockholm International Film Festival (Nov 18-28). He will visit Stockholm to accept the Stockholm Lifetime Achievement Award in a prize ceremony on Nov 18, while his latest film, Alexander, will open the festival.

The Stockholm festival said: With a fearless exploration of individual lives affected by modern day America, maverick and rebel Oliver Stone has challenged mainstream norms and created a deeply personal and political cinematic world.

Oliver Stone is also honoured by the film section Stone by Stone, a retrospective of films chosen by Stone himself.

SCREEN LOCATION

Sergels Torg a.k.a Plattan
Eye Candy will operate its screen in the famous SERGELS TORG.

The square takes its name from one of the country's most famous artists, Johan Tobias Sergel (1740-1814). Heated discussions for and against the square have ranged back and forth ever since it was completed in the 1960s. And right now, there's a political debate in progress into the ways in which the square might change and develop in the future. The square space is about 2785 square meters. This doesn’t include the underground area.

Three of Stockholm’s most famous shopping streets lead to the square (Drottningatan, Sergelgatan and Hamngatan).

The Cultural Focal Point of Stockholm (opening hours 09.00-19.00)
Kulturhuset on Sergels Torg in Stockholm was opened in 1974. With its central location and the architecture of the square, which is typical of its time, Kulturhuset has come to symbolize Stockholm and the development of modernism in Sweden.

The cultural focal point right in the heart of Stockholm. 3.3 million visitors per year can't be wrong!
A highly valued center of Stockholm's cultural life, offering exhibitions, performances and a library. In Kulturhuset you will also find the Stockholm City Theatre, one of the country's largest and most influential theatres. Here you will also find children's activities, Lava - a project room for young culture and Sweden's only specialist library for comic strips.
